<p>Pull out a calculator. How much money does a blink in the power cost you? You&#8217;ve told Patrick 60 times to save more often, but you bet at best he only saves his work before he goes to lunch and before he goes home at the end of the day.</p>
<p>(Two hours of lost work) X (engineering burden rate of $55/hour). -You can get a pretty nice <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uninterruptible_power_supply">UPS battery backup</a> for him for that cost.</p>
<p>An <a href="http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/roi" target="_blank">ROI</a> the first time you use it, plus you can sleep better during thunderstorms knowing the hardware is surge protected? If only all of your decisions were this easy.</p>
