Over the last couple months, I have seen many of our partners having a challenge with a similar issue: how to correctly map variable values inside PDM so that the model-linked values in the title blocks of their SOLIDWORKS Drawings are mapped appropriately to their data cards. As a result, I have decided to put together an overview (not a comprehensive how-to.) For more information, you can refer to pg. 428 of the PDM Administration Guide or SOLIDWORKS Online Help - http://help.solidworks.com/2016/english/Solidworks/sldworks/HIDD_SELECT_PROPERTY.htm. Typically, what we are all trying to achieve here is to get the model-linked value from the title block onto the data card for the drawing. Now, if you have not already set up a drawing template that has the...
When determining a SOLIDWORKS PDM platform, many wonder what difference is between SOLIDWORKS PDM Standard and SOLIDWORKS PDM Professional. Questions like, "Can Standard do everything I need it to do?," or "What are the differences between the platforms so I can make the appropriate choice?" Well, below I have put together a chart that may make understanding these differences from a feature stanpoint a whole lot easier. The chart is broken into groups to make it a little simpler to compare and add another layer of readibility. Enjoy! To learn more about SOLIDWORKS PDM, Please feel free to contact us.
It’s been a little over a year since SOLIDWORKS released PDM Standard as part of the SOLIDWORKS Professional and Premium packages and announced the retirement of Workgroup PDM, with the final release coming in 2017 and support for the product ending on December 31st, 2018. Since then, the increase in adoption of PDM Standard or Professional from our partners has been at an incredible rate. If the volume of PDM implementations (or Workgroup PDM migrations) the 3DVision Technologies service team completed last year can tell us anything it’s that PDM adoption is growing steadily and we expect more companies will adopt PDM in 2017 than any year prior. In lieu of that expectation of PDM adoption, I feel now is...
This week, I decided I wanted to blog about something a little different than our typical posts. As the newest engineer on staff here at 3DVision Technologies, I've recognized very quickly that SOLIDWORKS and Stratasys develop and create some of the most innovative technology to meet the demands of our customers growing business. These tools provide a value towards achieving key business objectives when the vast majority of us use these tools for work. They boost our productivity. They simplify our tasks. They help keep human error out of the mix. They allow you to be who you are - a designer, an engineer, a creator and eliminate the need for you to be an expert draftsman, artist, computer wiz, etc. Close...
